The young irresponsible graffiti artist Daniel, who does not care much for finances and rules, spurs romance and helps his friend and himself go through times and struggles of their ordinary life in Denmark. He meets Franc, the Bakery girl, who leads an irresponsible life just like him. They fell in love with eachother and their romance has many joyful and painful moments. How will the two end up?

Deze film van Dagur Kári, die eerder al de onverwachte filmhuishit Nói Albínói maakte, is een poëtische, Deense komedie. Dagur Kári won op het International Film Festival Rotterdam 2003 al de MovieZone Award van de jongerenjury voor Nói Albínói. Voknse Mennesker, ook wel bekend als Dark Horse, is een prachtige zwart-wit komedie film, met veel hilarische en absurde scenes. Grappige en trieste momenten wisselen elkaar af.
